ARLINGTON, TX— The Dallas Wings fought hard in their second game against the Minnesota Lynx but fell short for the second time this week.
Teaira McCowan led with 23 points, 18 rebounds and 1 assit.
Dallas took an early lead in the first quarter that was quickly matched by Minnesota’s Kayla McBride. McBride facilitated the Lynx offense pressuring Dallas, but the Wings found success under the glass with 11 points and 11 boards by Teaira McCowan.
With 1:51 on the clock in the 2nd quarter Kayla McBride received a technical that helped the Wings stay within 2-points going into the half, 50-48.
39 seconds into the 4th quarter the Wings were able to comeback from a 14-point deficit with the help from Kalani Brown and Teaira McCowan. McCowan was able to finish at the rim, made a good read in a double-team play, and passed to Kalani Brown who sunk the mid-range shot, to make it a 71-64 game.
With 29.2 on the clock Teaira McCowan fouled Naphessa Collier who went 2-2 from the free throw line, with the Lynx defeating the Wings, 90-81, for the second time this week.
Head Coach Latricia Trammell said that they needed to play a solid three minutes heading into the 3rd quarter but the team came out flat.
“We had to win the third quarter. We preach that every game,” said Trammell. “We’ve done a consistent job but we came out flat and too many turnovers.”
