FORT WORTH, TEXAS- The TCU Horned Frogs open up their season this Saturday at 12:00 PM CT at Amon G. Carter Stadium. After an undefeated regular season, the Horned Frogs have all eyes on them. Will they be the same team they were last season? Or will the loss of star quarterback Max Duggan and wide receiver Quentin Johnson be too much to replace?
TCU takes on Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes, which is a team that is very difficult to predict. No one can take away Deion Sanders’ knowledge of football and coaching ability, but it is very tough to turn around a team in just one season.
After a complete overhaul of the Buffaloes roster, Colorado only returned eleven scholarship athletes this year. Sanders came in and wiped the team clean, and wanted to start from scratch. The biggest issue is that the team probably has not developed enough chemistry to have success so quickly. It is really hard to predict what his team will look like. That is why this game is one of the biggest games of the week for college football.
TCU only has eleven starters back from last season, which is not a lot, but the difference with Sonny Dykes squad is that they hit the transfer portal hard and have added a lot of depth to this team. Chandler Morris is likely to take the reins as a starting quarterback, which will not be a big change from Max Duggan. After all, Morris beat out Duggan last season before he got hurt. The biggest loss will be at running back with the loss of Kendre Miller. It will be interesting to see who steps up and takes the job. As of right now, the depth chart looks like Emani Bailey will be RB 1, but there is a lot of depth in this position for TCU as well.
