DALLAS, TEXAS — Welcome back to the 2023 college football season. SMU dominated Lousianna Tech 38-14 in the Mustangs first home opener of the year. This victory really set the bar high as the Mustangs just accepted their invitation into the Atlantic Coastal Conference, otherwise known as the (ACC), but Smu will finish out the rest of the season in he AAC until making the big move in July of 2024.
SMU quarterback Preston Stone was named the Mustangs starting quarterback back in late August and he had a first great game throwing for 248 yards and threw for three touchdowns. Running back LJ Johnson Jr also led SMU with 128 rushing yards and one touchdown.
Mustangs head coach Rhett Lashlee stated after the game n press conference that, “he’s really excited to be 1-0 and I feel like the defense really set the tone.”
SMU will hit the road to take on the University of Oklahoma next Saturday, September, 9th. Kick off is set for 5pm CT.
