Indiana Fever Take Down The Dallas Wings In An Overtime Showdown

ARLINGTON, TEXAS — Arike Ogunbowale and Satou Sabally both put up 22 points to led the Wings.

The Indiana Fever were eliminated from playoff contention, but Aaliyah Boston said even though there was no postseason in their future, there is still something to play for: to end the regular season with three more wins.

The hunger to win showed in today’s competition giving Dallas early pressure in the paint.

What got the Wings in the first half was missed three-point shots and free throws, only knocking down 3 of their 13 attempts and making 5 of 10 free throw shots.

The largest deficit the Wings faced in the first half was five.

A personal foul by Indiana’s, May Caldwell, gave Dallas’ Maddy Siegrist a chance at two from the line. Siegrist knocked down both free-throws, to keep the game within three, going into halftime 39-36.

Dallas’ Crystal Dangerfield capitalized on a loose ball by Indiana’s Kelsey Mitchell with 7:13 to go on the clock, bringing the game within three, 61-59.

Natasha Howard brought the game 78-75 with two good free throws, but Indiana’s Kelsey Mitchell knocked down a three in the last seven seconds of the fourth quarter, sending the game into overtime.

A technical on Arike gave Indiana chance at two from the line, knocking down both, to close the game.

Head coach Latricia Trammell said post game its simple, Indiana won.

“They won,” said Trammell. “We messed up on defensive assignments and missed a lot of open looks. It went their way.”

UP NEXT: The Dallas Wings will remain at home to take on the No.2 New York Liberty on Tuesday, September 4th. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.
