FRISCO, TX – Watching the 2022 first round draft pick hold his hamstring during Monday’s practice and leave early was scary for everyone who happened to be at the Star that day. Left guard Tyler Smith left practice early with a hamstring injury.
Nobody knew the severity of the injury until Smith got an MRI on Tuesday. According to multiple sources the MRI showed it was hamstring tightness and a soft-tissue issue. There were no other underlying injuries that would take him out of Sunday night’s game against the Giants.
We spoke with head coach Mike McCarthy on Wednesday morning and he said that Smith would be on the sidelines for the next couple of days and return to practice by the end of the week. It’s too early in the week to determine game status for Smith but McCarthy said that he is optimistic about him playing on Sunday night.
Safety Donovan Wilson is suffering from a calf injury, and DE Sam Williams is also suffering from a toe injury. McCarthy said both of them, as well as Smith will be working with the rehab group this week. Their game status is to be determined at this time as well.
