DALLAS, TEXAS — An interesting non-conference game is ready to kick off at Norman Stadium as the No. 18 Oklahoma prepares to take on the SMU Mustangs in the second week of college football on Saturday. SMU is hoping to make a good impression in this road game against a Power Five team just shortly after the school announced it will join the ACC (Atlantic Coastal Conference) and hopes this game will prove a successful test for the Mustangs and their own Power Five aspirations.
The Mustangs played a strong game in their home opener, dominating the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs 38-14. The Mustangs ran for over 200 yards while quarterback Preston Stone threw for three touchdown passes while covering 248 yards in the air.
Oklahoma on the other hand, absolutely showed out last weekend in a 73-0 domination against Arkansas State, surpassing 640 total yards, and finishing with its best season opener victory since 1917, and their first shutout for the team under head coach Brent Venables.
These are two teams who will go head to head and the score might be closer than you think by the end of the game. Kick off is set for 5pm CT.
