FORT, WORTH, Texas — TCU came out strong at Amon G. Carter Stadium to get their first win of the season 41 to 6 over Nicholls State. After a tough loss last weekend as a 20-point favorite over Colorado, it was clear the Horned Frogs were ready to prove that last week was just a hiccup.
TCU’s offense exploded with Chandler Morris leading the way. He showed his ability to not only make big throws for big gains but also his ability to run the football. He went 26 for 30 throwing 263 yards and 2 touchdowns. The way he was playing tonight reminds us of Max Duggan last season which is music to many TCU fan’s ears.
Defensively it was still hard to tell if adjustments have been made. There were a lot of wide-open throws in the middle that Nicholls State could not complete, but if they play a better team those would be detrimental. TCU does a decent job at stopping the run game but what really needs work is their ability to break up passes for big gains.
Moving forward TCU will travel to Houston next Saturday to take on the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. with their first Big 12 win on the line.
