Injury Update For the Dallas Cowboys Leading Up To Week Two Against The Jets

FRISCO, TX – The Dallas Cowboys were without LG Tyler Smith on Sunday night against the New York Giants. Without Smith Dallas seemed to do just fine as they trampled the Giants in a 40-0 shutout in MetLife Stadium.

Head Coach Mike McCarthy had an update on the left guard on Wednesday afternoon, “Tyler Smith and Donovan Wilson will work with the rehab group today.”

Both did not participate in practice and will hopefully return by the end of the week. McCarthy said that they both look good but it’s too early in the week to decide if they will suit up on Sunday afternoon against the Jets.

A new player was added to the practice report on Wednesday, WR Brandin Cooks did not participate in practice due to his knee.

For the Jets obviously QB Aaron Rodgers has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a torn achilles. This would have been Rodgers 19th season in the NFL. He spent 18 years with the Green Bay Packers. This was Rodgers first season with the New York Jets, that was unfortunately very short lived. The second year QB Zach Wilson will take Rodgers place for the rest of the season. Wilson was drafted in 2021 and was originally the starting QB for New York. Rodgers decided to come on board and Wilson had to take a second row seat to the four time MVP. After a long preseason and a quick week one, Wilson is back in the driver seat for the Jets.

OL Duane Brown (shoulder) was limited at practice today as well as OL Mekhi Becton (knee) and RB Breece Hall (knee).

It’s too early in the week for any information on who will and will not suit up on Sunday night for both teams.
