TCU VS. Houston Preview

HOUSTON, Texas-  It’s the Big 12 opener for both TCU and Houston this weekend, and even though it seems like it should be an easy win for the Horned Frogs, this game could be a lot tighter than we think.

The biggest issue with TCU is its secondary. They are giving up around 340 yards passing per game, which is a very concerning number when you come up against a great dual-threat quarterback like Donovan Smith from Houston. Smith is a transfer from Texas Tech who has thrown for 493 yards with 88 yards rushing. Getting pressure on Smith early is what TCU needs to do if they are going to be successful in this game.

Contrary to what everyone thought pre-season, the TCU offense isn’t playing too badly. They could complete more 3rd downs, but other than that, they have averaged over 40 points per game, which is very hard to do. If Chandler Morris explores his running ability more as well as completes the simple 5- to 10-yard passes, the offense will continue to have success.

Moreover, the game is going to be a tight one and will definitely set the tone for what Big 12 play will look like. The game is set for 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
