Cowboys LB Micah Parsons Named NFC Defensive Player of the Week

FRISCO, TX – Dallas Cowboys LB Micah Parsons was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week after his performance against the New York Jets on Sunday afternoon.

Parsons has recorded seven tackles, three sacks, and one fumble recovery in his first two games of the season and played a key role in aiding his team to a 2-0 record. In the game against the New York Jets he sacked QB Zach Wilson twice.

This is Parsons third year in the NFL and in that short time he has racked up 29.5 sacks, 13.5 coming from last season which was seventh best in the NFL.

We spoke with Parsons after practice on Wednesday and he talked about the Lion and the nickname and how it has helped with his leadership within this defense.

“Lions have to work as a team to get what they need, and so they can feed their families. I said, ‘If you look at this, this is what we are, bro, like we out here trying to hunt this guy, and we’re trying to kill these people so we can feed our families like that’s our why.” Parsons said.

Parsons explained that he has everyone in the LB room thinking of an animal that they resemble and that players are arguing over who they want to be. He said it’s a way to keep each other accountable.
