Jack Trice Stadium, Iowa — It was TCU’s third Big 12 matchup of the season against Iowa State, and the Horned Frogs needed a big win after the upset loss to West Virginia. With that being said, this game was a tough showing for TCU, as they were defeated 27-14.
The first half was a tough offensive showing, with Chandler Morris throwing a key interception on their first drive. TCU has been all about momentum, and unfortunately, an early interception set the tone for this game. After this interception, everything seemed to go wrong. A blocked punt and many different misreads on offense put them in the hole by three going into the half.
The second half was even more of a disaster for the Horned Frogs, as star quarterback Chandler Morris went down with an injury and Josh Hoover had to step in. Hoover went 11 for 19 with 119 yards, 1 interception, and 1 touchdown. The offense never really got things clicking, ultimately digging them a hole.
Moving forward, TCU needs to learn how to play a complete game and become more consistent. Head Coach Sonny Dykes said that the biggest difference from last year to this year is consistency. TCU cannot play two full halves of football, which has cost them big games like West Virginia and Colorado. The Horned Frogs schedule only gets harder moving forward as they take on BYU next Saturday at 2:30.
