ARLINGTON, TX- The Dallas Cowboys (5-2) beat the Los Angeles Rams (3-5) 43-20 on Sunday afternoon in AT&T Stadium. The Cowboys wasted no time getting on the board early and dominated the entire game.
The first drive started off shaky, QB Dak Prescott was sacked back- to-back plays by Aaron Donald but Dallas didn’t lay down. They ended up finishing the drive with a touchdown caught by TE Jake Ferguson to give Dallas a 7-0 lead.
The Cowboys defense held Matthew Stafford and Co. to a field goal on the next drive. The game was moving at a steady pace until Dallas turned up the momentum. What kicked things off was DaRon Bland’s pick-six to put Dallas up 17-3.
That was Bland’s third pick-six of the season and he now has more pick-sixes this season than Deion Sanders had in his entire career for the Cowboys. Bland was the best cornerback in the NFL after week six going into the bye with a 23.3 rating, which was first in the league.
“I have to change my goal.” Bland stated after the game that he needs to change his goal for the season because he already hit it. Bland replaced CB Trevon Diggs when Diggs was ruled out for the season with a torn ACL.
After Bland’s pick-six the excitement was not even close to being over. Micah Parsons then sacked QB Matthew Stafford forcing LA to punt. During the punt Sam Williams blocks it, giving the Cowboys a safety and putting them ahead 19-3.
The Cowboys then received the ball again and to think things stopped there…. Nope! Kavontae Turpin returned the ball with a 63- yard run putting Dallas in a great position to score.
CeeDee Lamb then finished off the drive with a 22-yard touchdown, putting the Cowboys ahead 33-9 entering half time.
Lamb had a tremendous day. He finished the night with 12 receptions for 158 yards and two touchdowns. He broke 4,000 career yards during today’s game, which makes him the second fastest Cowboys player to hit 4,000 career yards at just 56 games.
“Give me the ball and see what happens.” Lamb told reporters earlier this week that he was confident and he was exceptional tonight catching 12 of his 14 targets.
Dallas had 251 total yards in the first half. That’s the most yards the Cowboys had in a first half this season, and the most yards in a half since recording 278 in the first half of the Oct. 30 game last season against Chicago.
The Cowboys played an amazing second half as well but closed this one out early in the second quarter. QB Dak Prescott had a phenomenal game, he finished the night 25-of-31 for 304 total yards, 4 touchdowns, and 1 interception.
Prescott spoke after the game about his offense and how they are continuing to improve and become better.
“Iron sharpens iron.” Prescott said. He said his defense gave him a headache during training camp and continues to do so every single day in practice. Prescott said his offense gets better and better because they have to go up against one of the best defenses in the league everyday at practice.
After today’s win the Cowboys have now won 11 straight games in AT&T stadium. Dallas has outscored their opponents at home 111-33 in three games at AT&T Stadium this season.
W2: 30-10 win over the New York Jets
W4: 38-3 win over the Patriots
W8: 43-20 win against the Rams
The Cowboys have a hard week ahead. They will be preparing for the Philadelphia Eagles this upcoming Sunday. That game will be played in Philly. Kick off is at 3:30 PM.
