LUBBOCK, Texas — Texas Tech upset TCU 35-28 in a must-win game for the Horned Frogs. Going into this game, if you looked at the record and statistics, it looked like TCU would walk away from this game with a win, but the Red Raiders came out strong and did not let up.
Behren Morton returned to the lineup after being injured and showed an immediate impact. Morton’s ability to throw the ball deep for big gains exposed this TCU secondary yet again.
He went 28 for 36 with 282 yards and 2 touchdowns to lead the Red Raiders.
TCU’s offense had moments of greatness, but two crucial turnovers by Josh Hoover ultimately crushed this offense. The first interception came after the momentum was all TCU, which led to an immediate red zone opportunity for the Red Raiders that they cashed in on. The other interception came on the final drive of the game with around 1 minute left to put the icing on the cake. Besides these two interceptions, Hoover’s numbers did not look so bad, and they did show glances of production on offense utilizing the run and pass game. Hoover went 32 for 52 with 353 yards and 1 touchdown.
It was the same story as it has been, which is the lack of defense, especially in the secondary. TCU will be back at home next week when the number 7 Texas Longhorns come into town, and this will not be an easy game. Bowl eligibility will be on the line for TCU.
