Texas And Oklahoma State Battle For The Big 12 Championship

Arlington,TX —  Saturday at AT&T Stadium, Oklahoma State takes on the Texas Longhorns for the Big 12 Championship. A lot is at stake here; if Texas wins, they could receive a spot in the college football playoffs. As for the Oklahoma State Cowboys, a win would make them Big 12 champions for the first time since 2011.

On paper, it would seem that Texas would take care of business with the Cowboys, but Oklahoma State has nothing to lose, and they will play with that mentality. Some key wins for Oklahoma State this season were their win over Oklahoma, a team that Texas has lost to. Alan Bowman has been electric for this offense so far this season. He has over 2,000 yards passing and had 334 yards in the win over Oklahoma. His ability to throw the ball can expose the Texas secondary. As far as defensively, Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy said earlier this week that they are well prepared for what Texas will do. He knows they will run the football and occasionally throw a couple of deep balls to keep the defense honest. He said that if they play their game, they should be alright.

For Texas, quarterback Quinn Ewers has been great for this team all season. For Texas to expose Oklahoma State, they need to utilize their receivers like Xavier Worthy. Texas has stuck to their run game a little too much this season, making them very predictable. When you have guys like Worthy and Ewers, you need to throw the football more. If Texas can mix up the offense, they should see a lot of success.

This game is going to be better than most expect, especially if Texas plays complacent, which we have seen quite a bit this season. For example, blowing a huge lead over Kansas State and TCU. Kickoff is set for 11:00 a.m. at AT&T Stadium.
