MIAMI, FL – The Dallas Cowboys (10-5) fall short to the Miami Dolphins (11-3) after the Dolphins hit a field goal with seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Dallas lost last week to Buffalo and have now lost their second straight game since 2021 after Sundays loss to Miami.
The Cowboys moved to 3-5 on the road and have struggled on the road all season, they looked more out together than they did last week against Buffalo but it was not enough.
The first drive of the game Dallas came out strong and looked like they were going to score. The Cowboys are 6-0 when they score on the opening drive. What looked like an easy touchdown ended up being a fumble recovery for Miami on the one yard line.
“Too many mistakes and you can’t make mistakes like that in games like this.” Head Coach Mike McCarthy said after the game.
The Cowboys didn’t give up and it was a back and forth game, Dallas’s offense continued to struggle scoring on drives and settling for field goals. CeeDee lamb scored a 49-yard touchdown in the first quarter but after that the offense was quiet for the rest of the half.
The Cowboys went into the locker room down 13-7. Miami came out the half and scored again. Dallas couldn’t get seven in the board and settled for multiple field goals.
Going into the fourth quarter the Cowboys were down 19-13. Brandin Cooks answered for Dallas scoring with 3.5 minutes remaining in the game giving the Cowboys a 20-19 lead. The problem was 3.5 minutes was too much time for the Dolphins to get in field goal range. Miami made its way down the field and scored a field goal with two seconds remaining.
Dak Prescott finished the night 20-of-32 for 253 yards for two touchdowns.
CeeDee Lamb finished the night with six receptions for 118 yards for one touchdown. He has scored in seven consecutive games which is the longest active scoring streak in the NFL.
Tony Pollard led with 12 carries for 38 yards.
Dallas will head back to Frisco to prep for the 11-3 Detroit Lions. That game will be played in AT&T Stadium on Saturday, December 30 at 7:15 P.M.
