No. 25 TCU Falls to Texas, 77-66

FORT WORTH, TEXAS — The TCU Horned Frogs and the Texas Longhorns went head-to-head in the Schollmaier Arena, and the Horned Frogs fell short here at home with a final score of 77-66. TCU was led by Emanuel Miller with a total of with 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists.

TCU came out strong dominating the 1st half of this game but quickly let Texas catch up and taken the lead with 10 minutes left in the 1st half.

TCU struggled to take back the lead due to 10 turnovers and weak defense causing them to go into halftime down by 11 with a score of 43-32.

Avery Anderson says they weren’t getting stops which heavily impacted their game.

“We weren’t getting stops on the defensive end which slowed down our transitions”.

Coming out of halftime the Horned Frogs couldn’t seem to find their rhythm in order to begin dominating this game again, making it less than five-point game consistently throughout the 2nd half.

Dixon emphasized the lack of defense from the team and how strong offense can’t be what wins them games.

“I have to get the message across that were not going to keep winning games offensively, our numbers have been really good recently, but our defensive numbers haven’t.” said Dixon.

Texas Guard Max Abmas made this game his own in the final minutes with 13 points, shutting down any chance TCU had at a comeback.

He says, “the first half I didn’t make too many shots, but staying in it and continuing to make the right plays and being able to get to the free throw line got him going”.

The Horned Frogs, now 16-6, will get ready to face the Iowa State Cyclones again this Saturday after losing to them by one point earlier this season. Tip-off is at 1pm at Hilton Coliseum and can streamed on ESPN+.
