DALLAS, TEXAS — The Dallas Mavericks announced today that they have acquired center Daniel Gafford from the Washington Wizards in exchange for center Richaun Holmes and a 2024 first-round pick obtained via the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Gafford (6-10, 234) has appeared in 45 games (45 starts) with the Wizards this season and is averaging career-highs across the board with 10.9 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.0 steals and 2.2 blocks per game while shooting 69.0% from the field, the second-highest field goal percentage in the NBA this season. The 25-year-old Arkansas native has the seventh-highest blocks per game (2.2) in the NBA this season and is one of three players in the NBA in 2023-24 to average at least one steal and two blocks per game (Victor Wembanyama, Anthony Davis).
