HARRISON, NJ — FC Dallas has never won at Red Bull Arena in league play, but that could change on Saturday.
If they are “really focused and proactive,” according to Head Coach Nico Estévez.
“We have to embrace the possession when [we] have the ball,” Estévez said, and “get them in transition” in order to bring home a win from Red Bull Arena.
History favors New York, who is unbeaten in its last nine home regular season matches against Dallas. In the past 47 meetings, the Red Bulls hold the overall advantage at 26-17-7.
Dallas hasn’t beaten them in over 10 years—Dallas’ last win over New York was back in 2012, a 2-1 at home.
But so far this season, only a point separates the two sides, NYRB with four because of a tie against Nashville SC and a win over Houston Dynamo FC and FCD with three points from a win over the San Jose Earthquakes and a loss the CF Montréal.
Watch out for Elias Manoel, the Red Bulls’ forward who scored his first goal of the season in the team’s 2-1 win over Houston Dynamo FC, who has also scored four goals in his last five matches across all competitions—the brazilian can shoot, and assist, having scored three each in his last three matches at RBA.
You will not be seeing the likes of players such as Sebastien Ibeagha, Asier Illarramendi and Paxton Pomykal due to injuries.
It will be Dallas’ first road game, and New York Red Bulls’ home opener, kicking off at 6:30 p.m. CT in Harrison, New Jersey.
