FRISCO, TEXAS — The hunt for another three points, let alone a point, continues for FC Dallas this weekend on their trip to America’s First Soccer Capital to play St. Louis City SC.
While Dallas is currently ranked 12th in the Western Conference, St. Louis sits just two spots above them, but it’s rather out of character for the second-year club.
St. Louis finished their 2023 debut regular season in first place in the Western Conference under Head Coach Bradley Carnell. They scored the second-most goals in the MLS, and are now the first expansion team in MLS history to start their first two seasons unbeaten through the first five matches.
While St. Louis just lost for the first time this season to Real Salt Lake, they have not won a game since March 2, having drawn three of their last four games.
FC Dallas, on the other hand, has not won since their home and season opener back on Feb. 24.
Last time out for these two sides, St. Louis midfielder Indiana Vassilev scored his first goal of the season, which doubles as City SC’s quickest goal in club history, just over two minutes into the match. For Dallas, forward Eugene Ansah scored the team’s only goal in his first career start in MLS regular season play, in the 51st minute, off of Petar Musa’s first assist in an FC Dallas uniform.
Three or one is better than none—a mentality FC Dallas is sure to have heading into this Saturday. Kickoff at CITYPARK is set for 7:30 p.m.
