FC Dallas Beats Houston Dynamo FC 2-0

FRISCO, TEXAS — FC Dallas wins its second game of the season, and first since the season opener back in February, with a 2-0 win over Houston Dynamo FC, handing the Dynamo its second-straight loss and ending Dallas’ seven-game winless streak.

The best thing to silence the noise of negativity “is winning,” Head Coach Nico Estévez said.

Action in the first half came quickly—a red card just five minutes into play was given to Houston’s Griffin Dorsey for fouling Marco Farfan as the last defender.

Plenty of opportunities for FC Dallas followed, but only one shot on goal is all that showed for FCD’s first half efforts.

According to Estévez, “the first goal is the most difficult.” FC Dallas’ came from Petar Musa in the 55th minute, his third goal of the season and second in straight games, assisted by Emmanuel Twumasi.

Sebastien Ibeagha headed down Sam Junqua’s cross to the far post for Dallas’ second goal in the 80th minute, his second MLS career goal.

“Sam did what I always tell him to do, which is to take a touch and put it back in the box,” Ibeagha said.

The challenge with Dynamo goalkeeper Steve Clark went Dallas’ way, and that scoreline would hold out until the end of play.

Jesús Ferreira made his return to the pitch in the 67th minute, but no Sebastian Lletget, who was unavailable due to injury.

Dallas is one leg away from getting to keep El Capitán, a 19th century replica cannon, at Toyota Stadium after winning the first game of the Texas Derby.

FCD will head north of the border to play at Toronto FC next Saturday, May 4 at 6:30 p.m.
