DALLAS, TX – The Dallas Mavericks knock off the Los Angeles Clippers 114-101 to move to the semi-finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The first quarter the Mavs took no time getting in the groove of things. The last game against the Clippers in American Airlines Center Dallas took forever to get in the game and ended up getting down 31 points, they eventually came back but they had to beat a 31 point deficit. On Friday night they came ready to play immediately. Luke Doncic had 14 points in the first quarter aiding Dallas in a 34-26 point lead entering the second quarter.
Dallas held their own and kept their lead until three minutes left in the half. They started to play sloppy and gave up the lead letting the Clippers take a two point lead. Both teams ended up tied at the half 52-52. The Clippers held Doncic to just one point in the second quarter.
Mavs shot 39 percent from the floor, 25 percent from the three-point line, and 68 percent from the free-throw line.
Dallas outscored the Clippers 35-20 in the third quarter to take a 87-72 lead into the fourth quarter. Donic had 25 points, Kyrie Irving had 15 points, Gafford had 13 points. The offense was very well rounded which helped them take a 15 point lead into the fourth.
Mavs continued to rally in the fourth and took a 22 point lead with six minutes left in the game. Irving continued to cook and the players continued to capitalize on both ends of the floor to take the win.
Kyrie Irving led the Mavs with 30 points, Doncic added 28 points, and PJ Washington added 14 points.
Dallas will move on to the semi-finals and will head to Oklahoma to take on the Thunder. Game one will be on Tuesday night.
