Can the Dallas Wings Break the Connecticut Sun’s Winning Streak?

MONTVILLE, CONNECTICUT — The Dallas Wings’ five-game road trip has reached its final stretch with a matchup against the Connecticut Sun on Friday night. This will be a challenging game, as the Sun has started the season strong, remaining undefeated with a 6-0 record.

The Dallas Wings are coming off a close win against the Los Angeles Sparks, 84-83, on Sunday evening. Arike Ogunbowale led the team with 20 points, while Monique Billings recorded a double-double, contributing 18 points and 16 rebounds.

Offensively, Dallas is performing well, ranking 2nd in the league. However, they need significant improvement on defense. The Wings’ defense is currently ranked 10th in the league, allowing 84 points per game, while averaging 86 points per game this season.

In contrast, Connecticut excels on defense, which was the key in their most recent victory over the Phoenix Mercury, a 70-47 win. The Sun had three players score in double digits in that game.

Leading scorer DeWanna Bonner paced the Sun with 19 points, 3 assists, and 3 blocks. Brionna Jones added 16 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. Alyssa Thomas contributed 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists.

The Sun’s defense is ranked 1st in the league, which will be a significant challenge for the Wings. Dallas has multiple scoring threats, but they often take time to find their rhythm offensively.

These two teams will face off tonight, with tip-off set for 6:30 p.m. at the Mohegan Sun Arena.
