WASHINGTON, DC — The Dallas Wings were defeated by the Washington Mystics bringing their season record to 3-12. The Wings struggled offensively, shooting only 39.4% from the field and making just 5 of 24 three-point attempts. They relied heavily on free throws, converting 12 of 16 attempts.
Natasha Howard’s return was important in the game, as she led the team with 19 points, six rebounds, two assists, one block, and one steal. Rookie Jacy Sheldon also made a significant contribution with 16 points, five rebounds, three assists, and one steal and block. Kalani Brown came off the bench with 13 points, three rebounds, and two assists.
The Mystics and Wings were closely matched in scoring until Washington pulled away in the final minutes of the first quarter, going into halftime with a 51-34 lead. Kalani Brown made a final push for the Wings, but Washington secured the victory with key contributions from Jade Melbourne, Didi Richards, and Emily Engstler.
Engstler led the team with 23 points, nine rebounds, and two steals, followed by Karlie Samuelson with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and one assist. Stefanie Dolson also added 16 points, and Jade Melbourne contributed 13 points.
