FRISCO, TEXAS — It remains to be seen whether Trey Lance will secure the position as the Cowboys’ second-string quarterback in support of Dak Prescott. The upcoming training camp will feature a competitive battle between Cooper Rush and Lance as they vie for the backup role.
Lance, the third overall pick for the San Francisco 49ers in the 2021 NFL Draft, encountered a setback when an ankle injury prematurely ended his 2022 season after just two starts. Subsequently, Brock Purdy emerged as the 49ers QB 1, leading to Lance’s trade to the Dallas Cowboys in late August of the start of 2023 season.
“This offseason, I have been in optimal mental, physical, and spiritual condition, fully aware of my identity and presence,” Lance expressed, underscoring his readiness for the impending season.
As the Cowboys gear for its season opener against the Browns in Cleveland on Sunday, September 8th, the resolution to the Lance versus Rush debate will gather heightened anticipation.
