OXNARD, CA – Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has not reported to training camp due to frustrations over his contract. The Cowboys set off to Oxnard California on Tuesday afternoon and Lamb was not on the plane with them.
Pro Bowler and fifth year vet has yet to get a contract extension from upstairs. Camp officially starts on Wednesday and Lamb will not be in attendance and will officially be on a hold out.
Lamb missed all of OTA’s as well as minicamp and was fined daily for missing minicamp. Same goes for training camp, every day that he is not in attendance he will be subject to fines.
Lamb is one of, if not the best wide receiver in the NFL currently. This year with no contract extension he is subject to make $17.9 million dollars on the fifth year option.
Meanwhile, across the league wide receivers have been cashing in all off season from Detroit Lions Amon-Ra St. Brown, Philadelphia Eagles A.J. Brown and Davonta Smith, and the league’s now highest paid wide receiver Minnesota Vikings Justin Jefferson. Jefferson signed a four-year $140 million dollar contract with $110 guaranteed. He will make $35 million a year. Lamb is looking to add to this list as one of the highest paid receivers this season.
Lamb is coming off a hot season, breaking the receiving record in Dallas and passing former Cowboy wide receiver Michael Irvin with 1,749 yards. He finished last season with 135 receptions for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns. All of which were top five in the NFL in each category.
The Cowboys superstar isn’t the first to hold out at camp and probably won’t be the last. Hopefully Lamb and the front office will come to an agreement and he will be back out there with his teammates soon.
