FRISCO, TEXAS — For the first time in club history, FC Dallas will match up against Liga MX’s FC Juárez in its second group stage game.
Already in group play, Dallas lost 1-2 at St. Louis CITY SC last Saturday.
But don’t let that worry you—in last year’s Leagues Cup, FCD lost its first game to Charlotte FC 4-1 in penalties after drawing 2-2 in regular time, but still went to the Round of 16 before falling to eventual champions Inter Miami CF.
Leagues Cup is a World Cup-style tournament, including all 47 clubs from Major League Soccer and Liga MX. Domestic play for both leagues has been paused for the tournament, so you won’t see another MLS game until late August.
Dallas is undefeated at Toyota Stadium in Leagues Cup action, and against Liga MX sides.
Interim head coach Peter Luccin said the team has had a lot of injuries over the past month and a half, but should FCD advance to the knockout rounds, Jesús Ferreira would likely see action again.
Kick off for Wednesday is set for 8 p.m.
