TCU Football Kicks-Off Fall Camp

FORT WORTH, TEXAS — Following the first day of training camp of the season, the TCU Horned Frogs have had a strong start to yet another exciting football season. Coach Sonny Dykes speaks up at press conference post practice and says that the team had “great mechanics” this morning. He explained that in the prior season, the coaches may not have been as detailed and knowledgeable as they could be for training camp, but he feels as though the 2024 football season has a promising start and that they are so much further along schematically.

As training camp kicks off, we get to see the camaraderie that develops between our transfer players and our prior horned frogs. All of these players have experience, it is just about getting every player to work cohesively together as one team. Once they create this depth, it is game. Dykes says, “depth creates competition, competition brings out the best in everybody. “

Tuesday’s practice had a very strong start, but as the practice carried along, the players grew fatigued and slightly lackadaisical. Despite this, Quarterback Josh Hoover stood out today as he threw the ball well and made good decisions. Josh succeeds at throwing accurate, timely, and open balls which helps him take the completions. Coach says that he has an incredible arm, but needs to be satisfied as he checks the balls down the field and learns when and where to take his shots.

Overall, the first day of training camp revealed that the Horned Frogs are eager and ready to put in the work for this upcoming season, and show the Big 12 who’s boss.
