TCU vs Long Island University Preview

FORT WORTH,TEXAS-  It’s the moment TCU fans have been waiting for: the season home opener. The Horned Frogs will kick off their home schedule at Amon G. Carter Stadium this Saturday against Long Island University.

TCU has won 20 of its last 22 home openers, and this game will mark the first time in history that these two teams have met on the gridiron.

Long Island University has a 4-7 record over the past two seasons and remains far from contending in the FCS, especially after last week’s 27-21 loss to U Albany. The game exposed several weaknesses, including LIU’s struggles on third down, where they converted only 4 of 14 attempts. Defensively, LIU allowed the Great Danes to exploit their secondary, including a 75-yard touchdown pass that closed out the first half and shifted the game’s momentum.

For TCU, this matchup is an opportunity to address mistakes from last week’s win over Stanford. The Horned Frogs fumbled three times, making the game closer than it should have been. Offensively, TCU scored at will when it minimized turnovers. Quarterback Josh Hoover connected with emerging star wide receiver Jack Bech for 139 yards to lead the offense.

Defensively, discipline is a key focus. TCU accumulated 100 penalty yards against Stanford, essentially gifting points to the opposition. The overall goal for Saturday is to reduce penalties and turnovers in preparation for their Big 12 opener the following weekend.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Saturday.
