Dallas Trinity FC Draws 2-2 to Carolina Ascent FC

DALLAS, TEXAS — Their last three were on the road, and now Dallas Trinity FC (2-1-4) returns home; head coach Pauline MacDonald’s first time coaching in the Cotton Bowl.

“It feels incredible,” MacDonald said. “It feels like home.”

Dallas drew 2-2 to Carolina Ascent FC, who currently sit in first place in the USL Super League with a 4-0-5 record. Carolina is the only team to have not yet lost this season.

Dallas now sits in fourth place.

Carolina opened up the scoring when Mia Corbin tapped it past DTFC goalkeeper Madison White, off a Jaydah Bedoya cross from the left side.

Dallas tied it in the 24th minute—Chioma Ubogagu took a free kick from the left side of the 18-yard box. Her cross in bobbled around between a number of Carolina defenders, then Lucy Sheperd poked it through, Amber Brooks getting one last foot to it to put it away for her second goal of the season.

But Bedoya had an answer 11 minutes later—her shot rifled through the top right corner of frame to get Carolina back in front.

Allie Thornton netted her fourth goal of the season in the fifth minute of extra time at the end of the first half. She volleyed it off the bounce to drill it past Carolina’s Meagan McClelland, making it 2-2 before heading into the locker room.

Thornton is now tied with Madison Parsons of Lexington SC for second-most goals in the league, with four.

DTFC’s Hannah Davison almost scored four minutes into the second half, but was called offside—more opportunities came from DTFC to follow, but none found the back of the net. Dallas ended the game with 17 shots, only 7 of them on frame—they now sit in fourth place.

DTFC will be back at home next Saturday, to take on Fort Lauderdale FC. Kick off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
