DALLAS<TEXAS — It will be the first matchup between Dallas Trinity FC and Fort Lauderdale United FC, in the Cotton Bowl, kicking off at 4 p.m. this Saturday.
Dallas Trinity will try to maintain being undefeated at home, having just drew 2-2 to Carolina Ascent FC last week. Dallas is the only team to score multiple goals against Carolina Ascent this season; the pair of goals coming from Amber Brooks, of whom was assisted by Lucy Shepherd, and Allie Thornton. Thornton’s goal put her in second place in the league’s Golden Boot race, with four goals total so far.
Who does she sit behind? Fort Lauderdale’s Addie McCain. Thornton and McCain are the only two players to have hat tricks, this season.
McCain will look to get back on the score sheet, this time out. While she leads the league with 6 goals, she was not the goalscorer in FTL UTD’s most recent 3-1 loss to Brooklyn FC—that one belonged to Felicia Knox.
FTL UTD is the only team to have not been shut out this season, having scored at least one goal in all seven of its matches.
While they are unfamiliar opponents, both DTFC and FTL UTD have some familiar players on either side of the ball—Dallas’ Cyera Hintzen played with Fort Lauderdale’s Cameron Brooks for the University of Texas in 2018. Hintzen was a junior and Brooks was a freshman, back then for the Longhorns.
DTFC has just seven games left this fall season, starting with FTL UTD.
