WACO, Texas — The TCU Horned Frogs are set to face off against Big 12 rival Baylor in the “Bluebonnet Battle” at McLane Stadium this Saturday at 7 p.m. A win would secure bowl eligibility for TCU, a milestone they missed last season. The Horned Frogs have won their last four matchups with Baylor and hold an 8-1 record over the last nine games in the series.
Baylor’s quarterback, Sawyer Robertson, has completed 116 of 193 passes this season, totaling 1,541 yards, 17 touchdowns, and four interceptions. Known for his dual-threat capability, Robertson has also rushed for 229 yards, making him a formidable opponent for a TCU defense that has struggled against the run.
The Bears enter the game with a 4-4 overall record (2-3 in Big 12 play) and are riding momentum from consecutive wins over conference opponents Oklahoma State and Texas Tech. TCU, on the other hand, is 3-1 on the road this season and has recorded back-to-back road victories over Kansas and Utah.
For TCU’s offense, a key focus will be on wide receiver Savion Williams, who has taken on a new offensive role for TCU leading the team in rushing over the last two games, with 72 yards against both Utah and Texas Tech. Williams alongside quarterback Josh Hoover who ranks fifth in the FBS with 2,614 passing yards and is tied for fifth with 37 completions of at least 20 yards could be an issue for this Baylor defense. Hoover, tied for eighth nationally with 19 touchdown passes, threw three against Texas Tech, including two in the fourth quarter, as TCU rallied from a 17-point second-half deficit to win 35-34.
