DALLAS, TEXAS — The Dallas Mavericks currently hold a 3-2 record after five games into the new season, following recent matchups against the Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets. Despite some successes, the Mavericks have faced challenges in starting games strong, focusing particularly on improving their rebounding and minimizing fouls.
After Thursday night’s game against the Rockets, Head Coach Jason Kidd emphasized the team’s need to be more disciplined in these areas. “Fouling and rebounding is what it comes down to,” Kidd stated. “We’ve got to be better in that area.”
Luka Dončić, showing leadership, took responsibility for the team’s struggles, acknowledging his slow start and vowing to improve his performance. While the Mavericks’ core players have been solid offensively, the bench struggled to maintain momentum, contributing just 21 points in Thursday’s game.
Looking ahead, the Mavericks are set to play back-to-back home games against the Orlando Magic on Sunday and the Indiana Pacers on Monday. The team will need to make adjustments to avoid slow starts and ensure better support from the bench, aiming for a more balanced and disciplined approach in these upcoming matchups.
