FORT WORTH, Texas- After a narrow three-point loss to Big 12 rival Baylor last weekend, TCU is aiming to get back on track as they face conference opponent Oklahoma State on Saturday at 6 p.m. A win would make the Horned Frogs bowl-eligible, a feat they missed last season. TCU has won four of the last six matchups against the Cowboys, including a memorable 43-40 double-overtime victory in Fort Worth in 2022.
Oklahoma State enters the game on a six-game losing streak, the longest under head coach Mike Gundy in two decades. TCU’s defense, which allows 176.2 rushing yards per game, faces a challenge in stopping standout running back Ollie Gordon II. Despite a slower season, with 593 yards on 146 carries and an average of 4.1 yards per carry—his lowest in college—Gordon remains a scoring threat. He has nine rushing touchdowns, along with 23 catches for 128 yards and a receiving touchdown.
TCU’s offense will continue to lean on Savion Williams in both the rushing and receiving game. Williams has led the Horned Frogs in rushing over the past three games, becoming the first TCU player with a rushing and receiving touchdown in the same game this season. Quarterback Josh Hoover ranks third nationally in passing yards at 2,947, tying for third with 21 touchdown passes and sitting fifth with 42 completions of 20-plus yards. Wide receiver Jack Bech ranks among the nation’s top receivers, tied for fourth in the FBS with nine touchdown catches and placing fifth with 923 receiving yards. Bech is just 77 yards away from becoming the sixth Horned Frog to achieve a 1,000-yard season.
TCU’s core group of JP Richardson, Jack Bech, Savion Williams, and Eric McAlister has proven tough for defenses to contain. Richardson, a transfer from Oklahoma State, adds extra motivation to the lineup and bolsters the Horned Frogs’ offensive depth.
