FRISCO, TEXAS — The Dallas Cowboys will be without quarterback Dak Prescott for the remainder of the 2024 season after he sustained a hamstring injury during the team’s recent matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. Despite attempts to recover, Prescott will now undergo season-ending surgery and has been placed on injured reserve.
With Prescott sidelined, Cooper Rush will step in as the starting quarterback, bringing experience as a reliable backup. Trey Lance will serve as the backup QB, adding depth to the position. To further strengthen their quarterback room, the Cowboys are signing Will Grier to their practice squad. Grier, who spent time with the Cowboys in 2021-22 and most recently was with the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad, will provide additional depth as the team adjusts to life without Prescott.
The Cowboys now have three quarterbacks in the building, and the team will likely lean more heavily on its defense and running game as they adjust their offensive strategy for the remainder of the season.
