Charlottesville, VA — SMU has clinched a spot in the ACC Championship Game, presented by Geico, scheduled for Thursday, December 7, at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT at Bank of America Stadium. Media credentials must be applied for by Monday, December 2, via SportsSystems.com/ACC.
In their most recent game, SMU dominated Virginia with a 33-7 victory, extending their conference win streak to a record 16 games. The Mustangs remain undefeated on the road at 5-0 this season. Defensively, SMU held Virginia to just 3-of-15 on third downs and recorded season highs of nine sacks and 12 tackles for loss. Jared Harrison-Hunte and Isaiah Smith led the defense with two sacks each.
Quarterback Kevin Jennings, a Davey O’Brien Award semifinalist, led the offense with 323 passing yards, two touchdowns, and a rushing score. Running back Brashard Smith, a Jet Award and Doak Walker Award semifinalist, contributed 63 rushing yards and a touchdown, bringing his season totals to 1,089 rushing yards (15th all-time at SMU), 13 rushing touchdowns, and 1,533 all-purpose yards (11th in program history).
Wide receiver Roderick Daniels Jr. added 110 all-purpose yards, including 58 receiving and 49 on punt returns. Daniels has surpassed 100 all-purpose yards in three of the past four games.
SMU will host Cal in its final regular-season game on Saturday, November 30, at 2:30 p.m. CT at Gerald J. Ford Stadium. The Mustangs seek their first ACC title and an 11-win season, which would match their 1982 record.
