DENTON, TEXAS — The University of North Texas football team suffered its fifth consecutive loss on Saturday, falling 40-28 to East Carolina at DATCU Stadium on Senior Day. Despite holding a 14-point halftime lead, the Mean Green could not maintain their advantage, extending their losing streak and pushing East Carolina’s all-time series lead to 2-0.
The game featured standout performances, particularly from senior WR Blair Conwright, who caught two touchdown passes, and junior QB Chandler Morris, who threw for 266 yards and three touchdowns. Morris now has 3,594 passing yards on the season, ranking third in program history.
Defensively, LB Jaylen Smith set a new career high with 16 tackles, while DL Terrell Dawkins posted 12 tackles, marking his personal best. However, UNT’s struggles continued on defense, allowing over 40 points for the fourth time this season.
The Mean Green honored 17 seniors before the game, including key contributors like WR Damon Ward Jr. and DB Ridge Texada.
Next, UNT (4-7) will hit the road for their final regular-season game against Temple on November 30, looking to snap their losing streak and close out the season on a high note.
