PHILADELPHIA, PA — The North Texas Mean Green earned bowl eligibility with a dominant 27-14 victory over Temple, extending their series lead to 2-0. The win marks UNT’s first bowl berth under head coach Eric Morris, who took over in 2022.
Key performances came from quarterback Chandler Morris, who threw for 180 yards and a touchdown, and running back Makenzie McGill, who rushed for a career-high 155 yards and two touchdowns. McGill’s season total of nine rushing TDs ranks second among UNT freshmen in the FBS era.
The defense excelled, shutting out Temple in the second half and holding them to 1-of-16 on third downs. Chavez Brown and Quinton Hammonds each recorded double-digit tackles, while Brian Nelson sealed the win with a late interception.
UNT rushed for a season-high 253 yards and opened the game with a touchdown drive for the first time since facing FAU. The Mean Green are now 5-0 this season when leading after three quarters and continue to shine under Morris’ leadership.
