TCU Defeats Baylor in Thrilling Road Win, 74-71

WACO, TEXAS — TCU improved to 88-105 all-time against Baylor with a dramatic 74-71 victory in Waco, marking their third consecutive win at the Ferrell Center. The victory moved TCU’s record to 40-55 all-time in Waco, and it was a significant boost for head coach Jamie Dixon, whose career record now stands at 498-240.

The Frogs trailed by as many as 12 points with 5:26 remaining in the first half but rallied to secure their first road win of the season, improving to 1-3 on the road. The victory also marked TCU’s first win in Big 12 play this season where they outrebounded their opponent, 41-25, a key stat that continues to signal TCU’s success under Dixon. The Frogs are now 6-0 this season and 135-42 overall when they win the rebound battle.

TCU shot 50.9 percent from the field, its best performance since November, and held Baylor to just 39.7 percent shooting. This marked TCU’s eighth win of the season when they outshoot their opponent, improving to 141-30 under Dixon in such games.

Brendan Wenzel delivered the game-winning shot, a 3-pointer with just 5.0 seconds remaining, to break a 71-71 tie. Wenzel finished with a season-high 17 points, including four made threes. Ernest Udeh Jr. posted a career-high 16 points and a season-high 15 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season, adding four blocked shots and going 6-of-8 from the free-throw line.

Vasean Allette and Noah Reynolds each scored 13 points, continuing their impressive scoring streaks. Allette has now scored in double figures in seven consecutive games, while Reynolds has done the same in each of his last seven. Off the bench, Jace Posey contributed eight points, his most since the season opener.

With the win, TCU improved to 1-1 against AP Top 25 teams this season and extended its streak of victories over ranked Baylor teams to four in the last six seasons. It was also the Frogs’ seventh road win over an AP Top 25 team in program history, and their sixth such win under Dixon. TCU now has 39 wins over Top 25 opponents in program history, with 24 of those coming since Dixon took over as head coach.
