DALLAS, TEXAS — Monday night’s matchup between the Dallas Mavericks and Sacramento Kings at American Airlines Center was a nail-biter, ending in a heartbreaking 129-128 overtime loss for the Mavs.
Throughout the game, Dallas experienced multiple lead changes, at one point holding a 12-point advantage. The contest saw 17 ties, with the Mavericks maintaining control of turnovers, finishing with just 11—well below their target of 15. Defensively, they forced the Kings into 21 turnovers, capitalizing with 36 points off those mistakes.
Injuries continue to be a challenge for Dallas. Anthony Davis, who recently injured his left adductor against the Houston Rockets, remains sidelined. Daniel Gafford also exited Monday’s game in the second quarter due to a knee sprain.
On a brighter note, Kyrie Irving has been named an All-Star starter for the Western Conference in place of Davis, marking his ninth All-Star selection. He led the Mavs with 30 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists. DeMar DeRozan had a standout performance, recording a season-high 42 points, along with seven rebounds and three assists.
Up next, the Mavericks will host the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, setting the stage for another reunion with Klay Thompson.
