DALLAS, TEXAS — The Dallas Mavericks secured a hard-fought 118-113 victory over the Miami Heat, evening their season series at 1-1. The win marks the Mavericks’ third victory in their last five meetings with Miami and their seventh in the past ten matchups.
Dallas showcased a balanced offensive attack, with all five starters scoring in double figures. Dante Exum led the way with a career-high 27 points in a Mavericks uniform, followed by Max Christie (19), Spencer Dinwiddie (18), Kessler Edwards (15), and Olivier-Maxence Prosper (10). This marks the eighth time this season Dallas has accomplished this feat and the second time in 2025 (previously against New Orleans on January 29). The Mavericks also dominated the paint, recording 62 points inside, tying for their seventh-most in a game this season.
Exum’s Career Night Fuels Mavericks’ Victory
Dante Exum delivered an outstanding performance, finishing with 27 points on an ultra-efficient 11-of-13 shooting (2-of-2 from three, 3-of-3 from the line), along with 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and a block. The Mavericks are now a perfect 4-0 when Exum scores at least 20 points. His scoring total was just one point shy of his career-high (28 points against Minnesota on January 5, 2020). Additionally, Exum became only the second Maverick this season—alongside Daniel Gafford—to post at least 25 points while shooting 80% or better from the field.
Christie Continues to Shine
Max Christie contributed a well-rounded game with 19 points (8-of-19 FG, 3-of-11 3PT), 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals, and a block. This was the first 15-5-5 performance of his career, and his 3 steals tied a personal best. He joined Kyrie Irving and P.J. Washington Jr. as the only Mavericks this season to record a 15-5-5 game with 3 steals.
Christie’s 19-point outing ranks as the third-highest scoring game of his career, with two of his top three performances coming since joining Dallas (23 points vs. Houston on February 8, 2025). His consistency continues to impress, extending his career-best streak of scoring at least 15 points to seven consecutive games. He has scored 15+ points in each of his first six games with Dallas, tying Jamal Mashburn for the third-best start with the franchise. Only Kyrie Irving (34 straight games) and Monta Ellis (15) have longer streaks.
Kessler Edwards Provides Key Boost
Kessler Edwards posted a Mavericks career-high 15 points, shooting 6-of-12 from the floor and 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. He shined in the third quarter, scoring 13 of his 15 points, tying his career-best for points in a single quarter (previously against New Orleans on January 15, 2022).
Herro’s 40-Point Effort Not Enough for Miami
Despite the Heat’s loss, Tyler Herro delivered a remarkable performance, scoring 40 points on 15-of-30 shooting while adding 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. This marked his first time recording such a stat line, making him just the third Heat player to accomplish the feat and the first since LeBron James in the 2010-11 season. Miami also saw a strong playmaking effort from Kyle Anderson, who dished out a season-high 10 assists.
Dallas will look to build on this momentum as they continue their push in the Western Conference standings.
