SMU Falls to Wake Forest 77-66, Snapping Five-Game Win Streak

DALLAS, TEXAS — On Saturday evening, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons defeated the SMU Mustangs 77-66 at home at the Moody Coliseum, snapping SMU’s five-game winning streak and marking their first home loss in over a month.

Boopie Miller and Yohan Traore were out of tonight’s game due to injuries. However, this game was particularly significant for SMU’s leading scorer, Kevin “Boopie” Miller, who transferred from Wake Forest last spring.

SMU, now 19-6 overall and 10-4 in ACC play, struggled to find their rhythm against Wake Forest’s defense. The Demon Deacons capitalized on SMU’s 14 turnovers, converting them into 20 points. Wake Forest also dominated the boards, outrebounding the Mustangs 38-29.

The loss drops SMU to fourth place in the ACC standings, while Wake Forest improves to 19-7 overall and 11-4 in conference play, moving them into third place.

SMU will look to rebound when they travel to South Bend to face Notre Dame on Wednesday, February 19th. They will be back home to play Clemson, next Saturday, February 22nd.
