FRISCO, TEXAS — The home team in this series has won the last seven meetings across all competitions—FC Dallas’ win tonight continues that streak to eight, and marks its first home game of the season, defeating Sporting Kansas City, the bottom team in the Western Conference, 2-1.

Daniel Salloi, chested a cross down and volleyed it in to get Kansas City on the scoresheet first in the 32nd minute. His ninth regular season goal versus FCD is his most against any opponent, and the most of any KC player all-time.

Lucho Acosta leveled it in the 37th minute when he chipped it in the bottom left corner on a pass from Petar Musa inside the box. Acosta is the 7th player in MLS history with 75 goals and 75 assists.

A minute and a half later, Dallas took the lead. Leo Chú fired one in just under the crossbar with his left foot. Sebastian Lletget’s ball into the center of the box got deflected, yet fell in a perfect place for Chú to pounce.

Kansas City has just 1 point from now six matches this season, and has not won a Major League Soccer game since mid-September of last season; the club has now lost eight straight away games.

FCD head coach Eric Quill said SKC head coach Peter Vermes, who is the longest-tenured active head coach in MLS, is “intense” and that “his team’s never quit;” that his coaching style is much like his playing style.

Quill and Vermes met tonight for the first time as head coaches, after they both played for Kansas City before beginning their managerial careers.

FCD will head to Georgia to take on Atlanta United next Saturday, April 5.
