This marked just the sixth time this season the team has hit the 120-point mark while meeting the 50-45-80 efficiency threshold, improving their record to 5-1 in such games. The Mavericks drained 15-of-33 (.455) from three-point range, making it their 25th game this season with at least 15 triples. The team is 17-8 when reaching that mark and had not hit 15+ threes in a game since March 9 against Phoenix.
Anthony Davis Makes History
Despite the Hawks’ loss, Anthony Davis delivered a dominant performance, recording a game-high 34 points (14-23 FG, 2-4 3FG, 4-4 FT), 15 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal, and 5 blocks. It marked his 20th career game with at least 30 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 blocks, placing him in elite company alongside Hakeem Olajuwon, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Shaquille O’Neal, Patrick Ewing, David Robinson, and Bob McAdoo.
Davis also became just the second player in franchise history, alongside Daniel Gafford, to register a 30-15-5 game. He and Gafford are the only players in the NBA this season to achieve such a stat line. With his third block of the night, Davis recorded his 100th block of the season, marking his 11th career season with 100+ blocks. He is now tied for the 11th-most such seasons in NBA history with Josh Smith, Marcus Camby, Kevin Garnett, Alonzo Mourning, Larry Nance, and Tree Rollins. Additionally, Davis became the seventh player this season to reach 100 blocks, joining Victor Wembanyama, Walker Kessler, Brook Lopez, Myles Turner, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Evan Mobley.
Klay Thompson’s Hot Hand
Klay Thompson continued his sharpshooting ways, tallying 17 points (6-11 FG, 5-9 3FG) along with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal, and a block. His 5-of-9 shooting from deep marked his 17th game this season with at least five made three-pointers, giving him the fourth-most such games in a season in Mavericks history. He is now just two games away from tying Tim Hardaway Jr. (19) for the third-most in franchise history.
With his five three-pointers against the Hawks, Thompson brought his season total to 209, surpassing Hardaway Jr.’s 2020-21 season (207) for the fifth-most threes in a single season in Mavericks history.
