CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — On a bitterly cold night at Wrigley Field, Dansby Swanson came through in the clutch, driving in two runs with a key single in the eighth inning to lift the Cubs over the Rangers, 10-6.
Chicago saw a 6-3 lead slip away before rallying late. A misplayed fly ball and an error loaded the bases, setting the stage for Swanson’s go-ahead knock. Pete Crow-Armstrong followed with a two-run single to put the game out of reach.
Swanson homered earlier and added a sacrifice fly, finishing with three RBI. Crow-Armstrong and Seiya Suzuki each collected three hits and drove in two. Jameson Taillon gave the Cubs six steady innings, while Porter Hodge (1-0) picked up the win in relief.
For Texas, Wyatt Langford homered, and Josh Jung tallied three hits in his return. Patrick Corbin, making his Rangers debut, allowed three runs over four innings.
Up next: The series wraps Wednesday with Tyler Mahle starting for Texas and Shota Imanaga taking the mound for Chicago.
