CHICAGO, ILL — Corey Seager homered twice and Tyler Mahle delivered seven sharp innings as the Rangers avoided a sweep with a 6-2 win over the Cubs on Wednesday at Wrigley Field.
Seager opened the game with a solo blast to left-center and added another in the seventh—his first multi-homer game since August 2024 and the 18th of his career.
Tied 1-1 in the fifth, Texas erupted for four runs. Jonah Heim broke the deadlock with a two-run homer, Josh Jung doubled in a run, and Adolis García followed with an RBI single to put the Rangers up 5-1.
Mahle (2-0) held Chicago to two hits and one run over seven innings, lowering his ERA to 1.32. Cubs lefty Shota Imanaga (2-1) took the loss, tagged for five earned runs in five innings.
Seiya Suzuki tripled and scored in the fourth, then drove in a run in the ninth, but Chicago’s bats were mostly silent—just four hits on the day.
