Davis Makes History as Mavericks Dominate Raptors to Complete Season Sweep

DALLAS, TEXAS — The Dallas Mavericks put on a clinic at home Friday night, blowing past the Toronto Raptors 124-102 to close out the season series with a clean 2-0 sweep. It was a wire-to-wire performance defined by stifling defense, efficient offense, and a historic night from Anthony Davis.

With the win, Dallas improves to 3-2 in its last five matchups with Toronto and 7-3 over their last 10. The 22-point margin of victory tied the Mavs’ largest win of the season, matching their January 27 blowout of Washington.

The defensive tone was set early. The Mavericks held Toronto to just 38 points in the first half — tying their season-low allowed in any half — and never looked back. They blocked 10 shots on the night, the 10th time this year they’ve hit double digits, tying the 2002-03 squad for second-most such games in franchise history. It was also their sixth game with at least 8 steals and 10 blocks — the most ever in a single season for Dallas.

But the night belonged to Anthony Davis.

The eight-time All-Star delivered one of the most complete performances in franchise history: 23 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists, and 7 blocks. Davis became just the third player since blocks became an official stat in 1973-74 to record a 20/10/10 game with at least 7 blocks — joining legends David Robinson and Nate Thurmond.

He flirted with history by halftime, posting 12 points, 7 boards, 7 assists, and 6 blocks. No player in the play-by-play era (since 1996-97) had ever recorded such a stat line in a single half. He added five blocks in the second quarter alone, tying for the second-most in a quarter in his career.

Davis capped off his triple-double — the fourth of his career and first in a Mavs uniform — with a lob to Dereck Lively II early in the fourth. The performance also marked the 14th triple-double in franchise history.

Lively, for his part, posted his eighth double-double of the season with 10 points (5-7 FG) and 11 rebounds, helping Dallas improve to 6-2 when he reaches that benchmark.

Dallas also got contributions across the board. Brandon Williams, in his first game on a standard NBA contract, made the most of his opportunity with 17 points on an ultra-efficient 7-of-8 shooting. He added a rebound, three assists, a steal, and a block — easily his most productive and efficient outing at the NBA level.

Max Christie added 17 points of his own, along with six rebounds, two assists, and a block. It was his 10th game as a Maverick scoring at least 15 points — a strong showing after recording just seven such games before arriving in Dallas.

Ochai Agbaji caught fire from deep, tying his career high with six made three-pointers and matching his season-high with 24 points on 9-of-12 shooting. He added six rebounds and three steals in his 200th career game — shooting a scorching 75% from the field and 85.7% from long range.

Veteran guard Garrett Temple rounded out the team effort with a season-best 12 points, five rebounds, and three assists off the bench.

From top to bottom, it was one of the most balanced performances of the season for the Mavericks — one that sent a loud message as they gain momentum down the stretch.
