Rangers Blank Angels, Reclaim First in A.L. West

ARLINGTON, TEXAS — The Texas Rangers handled business in Arlington, shutting out the Los Angeles Angels 4-0 to open their three-game series on Tuesday night—and reclaim the top spot in the A.L. West.

Tyler Mahle carved up the Angels’ lineup with nine strikeouts over six scoreless innings, and the bullpen locked it down the rest of the way. Offensively, Texas pieced together timely hits to take control early and never looked back.

It marked the Rangers’ third shutout win of the season—joining back-to-back 1-0 wins in Cincinnati on April 1-2. That’s the first time since 2014 Texas has posted 3+ shutouts in the first 17 games of a season.

The victory also extended their home win streak to seven straight, their third-longest single-season streak at Globe Life Field since it opened in 2020. Their 7-1 home record matches the best start through eight home games in franchise history, tying the 1996 and 2011 squads.

Game two of the series continues Wednesday night in Arlington.
