FRISCO, TEXAS — One of the most dominant offensive linemen of his era, Tyron Smith, is expected to retire after 14 seasons in the NFL—13 of which he spent as the anchor of the Dallas Cowboys’ offensive line, and one final campaign with the New York Jets.
An eight-time Pro Bowler and two-time First-Team All-Pro, Smith was originally drafted ninth overall by Dallas in 2011. From the moment he stepped on the field, he brought a rare combination of power, agility, and discipline that quickly established him as a franchise cornerstone.
During his prime, Smith was a key figure in building one of the NFL’s most feared offensive lines. His protection helped guide a dominant rushing attack and gave stability to quarterbacks in the pocket, earning him widespread recognition across the league.
Though injuries took their toll in the later years of his career, Smith continued to battle and mentor younger players, cementing his role as a leader both on and off the field.
In 2024, Smith signed with the New York Jets in what would be his final NFL season. Even in his 14th year, he brought veteran experience and toughness to the Jets’ offensive line, continuing to showcase the professionalism and grit that defined his career.
Smith started 161 career games and consistently performed at a high level against the league’s best pass rushers. His blend of technical mastery and physical dominance made him one of the most respected left tackles of his generation.
Now expected to step away from the game, Smith leaves behind a legacy built on excellence, resilience, and leadership—one that will be remembered in both Dallas and across the league for years to come.
