ARLINGTON, TEXAS — The Arlington Renegades (3-2, 2-1) lost their first home game of the season, falling 37-33 to the DC Defenders (4-1, 2-1) at Choctaw Stadium Sunday. DC outscored Arlington 15-3 in the fourth quarter, with a key interception in the end zone sealing the win for the visitors.
Arlington jumped out to an 8-0 lead on a 63-yard touchdown pass from QB Luis Perez to WR Deontay Burnett, followed by a successful two-point conversion. The Renegades extended their lead to 19-6 in the second quarter, but DC closed the gap to 27-15 by halftime.
The Defenders opened the second half with a touchdown, but Arlington’s Lucas Havrisik responded with a 42-yard field goal to make it 30-22. DC later scored another touchdown and two-point conversion, and after a Renegades turnover, they took the lead for good.
The Renegades will visit the St. Louis Battlehawks (3-2) on Friday, May 2, at 7 p.m. CT.
